It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
When we were in Bavaria, we set aside one day and went on foot to the neighboring land of Baden-Württemberg to visit the Wiblingen Abbey. The landscapes around were soothing.

It took about five kilometers to go to the abbey from Ulm, where we settled. We walked along the well-kept houses and neatly-cultivated plots of land until we reached the borders of the Republic of Bavaria. Yes, Bavaria considers itself a Republic. In the photo: we solemnly leave Bavaria and enter the land of Baden-Württemberg.

The road signs that we met along the way hinted to us that tankers here have some speed preferences. And when we reached the village of Wiblingen, we saw a sign that we jokingly called Zhlob-Straße (zhlob in russian slang called greedy). In fact, Schloss is German for "castle", and we headed to this castle.

And here we are at the abbey . It was discovered in 1099, that is, more than 900 years ago.

Finding ourselves under these ancient walls, we did not dare to go inside for a long time and went to take pictures on the square in front of the entrance. In the left wing there was, apparently, some kind of university faculty, since many guys and girls entered and went there. And in the right, it looks like some kind of museum department serving the abbey. That's where we went to ask where they buy tickets for sightseeing. The sweet woman we met, passing through the vacuum doors, dropped her business and took us to the central gate, opened it and wished us a pleasant viewing. No tickets or fees.
In the meantime, there is no need to know about it. ”
When we went inside, even a little gasped from the beauty that opened up to us. Frescoes, sculptural compositions, gilded vaults. And, it's so unusual that we are all alone among all this splendor. No crowds of tourists, no camera clicks, no hum of human voices. This place is very underrated by tourists.

Selling candles, icons, life stories of saints and other cult products is significantly different from what we have seen here. Under one of the arches of the hall there is a long table on which products with price tags are laid out, and next to it is a box with a slot for money. You choose what you like and then put the required amount into the slot. No salespeople, no oversight. After all, who can you deceive here?
In the photo on the right, the stand is black, this is a stand for selling candles. You take the right amount and leave 2 euros per candle in the box. You can light this candle and put it on, you can take it with you, or you can donate to those who do not have the opportunity to buy it. To do this, you need to shift it from the left side of the stand to the right.

A few more photos of this incredibly beautiful place. I hope you can feel the sublime atmosphere that is in the air of the cathedral. The photos below are clickable:

When we went outside, we met a couple of newlyweds who were preparing a wedding photo session. It seemed like a good sign to us :-)

Then we walked through the village of Wiblingen, where they saw how the residents, whole families, sat in cafes and ate apple strudels. :-)
Leaving Wiblingen, we came across a whole sculptural zoo and did not miss the opportunity to take a picture with a cat, as they say that if you post a cat on the Internet, it will make the publication popular :-)

We would be glad to receive your comments on this article. If you have been to Wiblingen or are going to visit this abbey - share your impressions in the comments. Reposts and likes will be greatly appreciated.
