The Hungarian Parliament is included in many different ratings of the most beautiful architectural structures in the world. We really wanted to see this Hungarian miracle, so from the airport we immediately rushed to it. Fabulous, majestic and unforgettable ...
It so happened that our trip to Budapest coincided with the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian uprising, so black banners fluttered on government buildings next to the flags of Hungary in memory of those killed during those events
Walking in the square near the parliament, you can watch the solemn changing of the guard at the main state flag and visit the museum of the events of 1956, which is located underground. We did both.
Talking about Budapest, one cannot fail to note the beautiful parks, in which you can walk endlessly. Below is a selection of parks from different parts of the city. Here are the Varoshliget park and the Margit island park, which is located in the middle of the Danube and the streets of the Shashad district, where we settled for these few beautiful days. The public transport of Budapest deserves the highest praise. Comfortable, beautiful, runs every minute - on schedule. Selling tickets in vending machines in several languages. We got ourselves a pass for all types of public transport for 72 hours for 4150 forints (13.5 euros). That is, for 4.5 euros per day, you can ride around Budapest without limit. We did just that, having traveled many tram and trolleybus lines. It's very cool to drive around an unknown city and "stare" out the window.
And one more thing: there are no turnstiles at the entrance to the metro and other transport.
The fact that the city is literally "sharpened" for the comfortable life of its inhabitants can be emphasized by such elements as escalators on the streets, right in the open air. Budapest is a hilly city and there are a lot of ups and downs. So they made escalators in some crowded places. We were very interested, but how do they work in winter when it snows? Or if pouring rain floods the machinery?
Almost every quarter of Budapest has all kinds of monuments. We met squares where several sculptural compositions stood simultaneously, unrelated to each other. Some monuments are even in the metro. Here I greet a peasant at one of the metro stations, here is the "waiting" monument, which was erected to Parisian prostitutes (!!!), here is a family of mowers returning from the meadow.
In Varoshliget Park near the Vainyakhunyad Palace, we found the brothers of those cats that we stroked in Thailand near the Wat Pho temple in Bangkok. See how similar Thai and Hungarian cats are. :-)
