It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
As travel writers and as the founders of the "Green Tourism in Ukraine" Facebook group, we are very sensitive to people who develop tourism in Ukraine. Therefore, we are happy to talk about our trip to Kamyanets-Podilsky for the opening of the tourist season 2019. We were invited there by a wonderful team dreaming of creating a "Mecca" for travelers in one separate city of the Khmelnytsky region.
And right away, a life hack that will come in handy for traveling to Kamenets by rail: if the Ukrzaliznytsia website shows that there are no tickets left from Kiev to Kamenets-Podolsky (the direction is popular), then do not hang your nose ;-) and try to dial Kiev -Larga (this is the next station after the one you need). It is very likely that you will be able to purchase several lucky tickets, just do not forget to get off at one station earlier. We hope that someone from the management of the railways will read this and launch additional trains to Kamyanets-Podilsky so that travelers do not have to "spin like a snake" trying to get to the "Youth Capital of Ukraine 2019" .
And so, we are walking along Kamyanets-Podilsky, the first impression is vertical landscapes, very unusual for the townspeople living on the plains. Novoplanovsky Bridge is one such example.

The view from this bridge is simply incredible: at the same time you see the river, forest, rocks, rock climbers and one of the city's attractions - a giant blue umbrella .

They settled us in the Gala hotel complex , which surprised us with its territory. This is usually done by chains like "Hilton", when the reception is in one building, the restaurant is in another, and the rooms are in the third, etc. Here guests can play tennis on the court, entertain children on a special playground, visit the bathhouse / sauna.

The hotel has a restaurant "Poirot". There, out of several types of breakfasts I liked, for some reason "Canadian". He was remembered for his delicious curd casserole. And the second object to be remembered was a gorgeous aquarium in a restaurant, where multicolored fish were "moving around" and only the catfish, who knew Zen, hung peacefully on the glass, sticking out its lips in our direction.

After breakfast, we went to the Art Gallery on Pyatnitskaya Street for spiritual food. The discovery for me was the skill of embroidery with straws. The drawings on the dark blue background of the canvas looked absolutely like embroidered with gold. In the same place, in the gallery, we got to a master class, where the craftswoman taught us several ways to tie a khustka. It seems that it is easier to take and tie a scarf, but no - this is a specific matter, with its own technique, with a certain set of symbols, with its own historical meanings ...

After the master class, in one of the halls I found an authentic namisto and photographed it, because I knew that in the opening program of the season it was planned to set a record for the number of beauties who simultaneously put on such an adornment. By the way, the record took place: the audience could see 507 girls at once during the day, and each one wore a namisto around her neck. Next to the gallery there is a museum of old times, where (as it seemed to me) I found an image of an alien who, on one of the sides of a stone pillar, throws up his hands in surprise (apparently, too, has already looked at the diverse collection of the museum) ;-)

But the most striking exhibit that I remember was this canvas in the gallery, created from multi-colored ribbons. Vivid, atmospheric and perhaps one of the most impressive pieces.

The next part of the day we decided to spend in nature and went to the main attraction of the city - Kamenets-Podilsky fortress. We were lucky that it was in April that the fortress was captured by Saxatilis, or rather, Aurinia saxatilis, which means Aurinia Rocky . It clings to the slightest protrusions and hollows of the fortress walls, covering the fortress with bright yellow flowers, which makes the gray walls more festive. The guides will definitely tell you the legend about Aurinia, and I will leave them "their bread" and will not reveal the details of the appearance of yellow flowers on ancient walls ;-)

If the main fortress was seen by everyone who visited Kamyanets-Podilsky, then its part, called "Ruska Brama", was visited by few. Firstly, it is located far below, and we got to it along a narrow forest path that runs at the foot of the fortress walls. Once there, you start to wonder: how many interesting events have these walls seen over the years? How many people have tried to conquer them since their construction? ...
All the members of our blog specially climbed onto the wall of the fortress in order to photograph "Ruska Brama" from above, and it is very good that the photograph does not at all convey the attack of fear of heights that gripped me there ;-)

The solemnity of the festive opening of "Ruska Brahma" was created by smart kids with their songs and dances. And the effect of perception was consolidated - a magic hominy cooked over a fire, with meat and cucumbers, which all the guests washed down with fragrant tea.
The courtyard, where we entered after the grand opening, is a classic example of a knight's life. So it seems that now Ivanhoe will come out to meet, and the monk Tuk from the band of Robin Hood must have left the cart in the center.

Inside the "Brama" itself there is now a museum, where there is something to see for lovers of weapons and armor, and "military" tourists have the opportunity to "photograph a fashionable Look with a bow" ;-) and, if desired, even shoot at targets.

And now about the main thing! In the thirteenth century, the "Magdeburg Law" was formed in Europe, and already in 1374 this right was granted to the city of Kamyanets-Podilsky !!! At the same time, the City Hall was built, and literally on the "round" date, the 645th anniversary, I managed to try on the Chair of the Chair in the Magdeburg Law Hall, which is located in the City Hall of Kamyanets-Podilsky. Presided until (the cleaning lady did not drive away- crossed out) all the bloggers gathered for greetings and acquaintances.

This is what this Town Hall looks like today. It can be seen that the architecture was influenced by the 17-18 centuries, but the bloggers who gathered here were not at all embarrassed. (After all, they only need to take pictures and write ;-)

If you ask, what surprised me with Kamyanets-Podilsky, then the first word will be: "Festivals" . Today the city hosts a huge number of festivals. The first of them I would like to mention is the "Fiesta of Aeronautics". This year marks the 235th anniversary of the launch of the first balloon in Ukraine (which took place in Kamyanets) and if you want to see the reconstruction of this event, then come here on May 17-19. And fly on balloons and celebrate the city day at the same time. 🤘
And also, a film festival, a festival of medieval reconstruction, rallies and much, much more are held here. See the calendar of festivals and events here .

As serious people, we certainly went to the conference dedicated to the opening of the tourist season. The level of representation went off scale: there were all the heads of the city, the region and even the deputies of the Rada. It is very cool when these people direct their efforts to develop tourism in Ukraine. At the conference, we learned in detail about each upcoming festival and personally got acquainted with the craftsmen who make souvenirs of all kinds.

What is worth noting separately is the place of the city in History. Here empires crossed, inventions were introduced, history changed.
Be sure to bring yourself a guide who will show you around the residence of Simon Petliura

He will tell you interesting things about the streets and lanes, tell about the first Ukrainian balloon, and also about the fact that the first Ukrainian bus was also made in Kamyanets-Podilsky.
After the tour you will find a giant blue umbrella on your own.

In 2019, exactly 100 years have passed since the day of taking the First Ukrainian Oath.
My blogger friends and I were lucky to be present at the opening ceremony of the commemorative stone dedicated to this event. He was very moved by the details of the events that took place a century ago and proudly held his hand on his heart, listening to the hymn during the opening.

What I will not forget after my trip to Kamyanets-Podilsky is dinner at the Fortress. Many times I saw in films how knights spend their evenings, and in order to get into the atmosphere of "Feast in the mountains + artists who delight" myself, it was my first time. I would like to thank the entire tourist team of Kamyanets-Podilskyi for their love for their city and for the holiday they created for the guests. We said many kind words to each other that evening, sang an incredible number of songs and danced in the dark, under the glowing towers of the Fortress (now I know for sure that the knights of the Middle Ages had fiery night discos in their castles ;-)

And to finish my story about the opening of the tourist season in the city of Kamyanets-Podilsky, I would like to take such a selfie. Here, together with the cool folk group "Petridava", I celebrate the opening of the tourist season in the Kamyanets-Podilsky Fortress.

Be sure to travel!
