It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
When you want to relax at some European Mediterranean resort, and the budget is limited, we recommend that you turn your attention to Marmaris, which is located in Turkey, at the confluence of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. We share our memories of a trip to this town in a report.
So we flew out of Boryspil and contemplated beautiful Kiev and the mighty Dnieper in the window.

They get to Marmaris through the airport of Dalaman, from where tourists are taken by bus to the cities of the coast. Somewhere in the middle of the way, there is a mandatory stop at a special caravanserai, where several cafes and shops are concentrated, there a newly arrived tourist must pay for it, otherwise the bus will not go further ;-)
When all purchases are made, we go further and here we have an evening Marmaris.

The first impression is a huge number of palm trees in the city, which we have not seen in other Turkish regions. It turns out that the people of Marmaris bought palm trees from Egypt and take great care of each of them. To monitor the condition of the palm trees, each one was numbered, entered in the register and regularly examined. The photo shows the personal number of one of the Marmaris palms on a white plate. The second impression of Marmaris is, of course, swimming in the sea.

We called the reportage "Little Europe in Turkey" because there are a lot of Europeans here. Here, nobody is surprised by a restaurant especially for the Dutch, where everything is prepared for them: from the menu in their native language to the evening news from their homeland on the big screens. Or a bar for Danes, passing by a crowd of people in the colors of the Danish flag, watching a match on TV where Aalborg and Brøndby are playing. But the fact that we are in Turkey will not be forgotten here because of the abundance of red flags on the streets and the obligatory monument to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk on the main square.

The place where the city is located has been inhabited for 3000 years. Of the oldest attractions in Marmaris, a small fort, built by Suleiman the magnificent in 1522, has been preserved.
The walls of the fort are very close to residential buildings, and the streets leading from the fortress go down directly to the large galleries of the city market, where the standards of service are Turkish.

And this is how the embankment of Marmaris and its main city beach look like.

Most of the coastline in the city is reserved for yacht parking. There are a huge number of them in different sizes and under different flags. By the way, it is very interesting to look at yachts on a walk.

A separate, bright spot near the pier stands out the pirate ship Barbossa . It hosts pirate shows for children with immersion in the atmosphere of ancient times.

On one of the streets of the city, there is a monument to either photographers or just tourists.
Those tourists who do not really trust the sellers in the local market go to buy in a multi-storey shopping complex, where they will be sold the same Turkish goods, but in a more familiar environment ;-)

Concluding my overview of the city itself, I will note a few more monuments that we met. On the left - a monument to grandfather and granddaughter, in the center - to fishermen, and on the right - Cornelius Haga, the first Dutch ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, who spent twenty-seven years in Turkey.

And now, get out of the city, because every day several ships leave from the marmaris marina for a day cruise along the bay. On the first day we were asked for $ 25 per person for an all-inclusive ride from 10 am to 5 pm. On the second day, the price was reduced to $ 15, on the third day, we agreed to go on this trip for $ 9 per person. And so, we are aboard our "liner". We are going to explore the bay of Marmaris, which means it's time to pose for the camera. Beautiful bay, beautiful sailing scene. Well, let the romantic romanticism of the photo spoil the barbecue on the bow of the ship ;-) but I could not remove it, so look only at the bay.

Marmaris gradually disappears into the distance, and the captain's welcome cocktail, on the contrary, has become closer.

The most important attraction that we visited during the trip is a grotto with azure water.
Before we swam to this grotto, we saw a huge turtle on the surface of the water, but it surfaced only for a few seconds and while everyone was taking out their cameras, the turtle safely dived into the depths of the sea.

Several times the boat stopped in small bays to give passengers the opportunity to dive and swim. The following frames show a classic example from the #youareaphotographer series:
1. When you take pictures
2. When you are photographed

The farthest point of the boat trip was the small town of Turunc, which is remembered for its city beach and beautiful hand-embroidered shops.

And also, we met two monuments there: male and female.

Returning from the cruise back to Marmaris, we understood that tomorrow we were flying home and therefore stayed on the beach for a very long time, almost until midnight. And I almost never got out of the water. The impressions of visiting Marmaris will stay with us forever. This is a sunny city with gentle sea and incredibly beautiful bays, where we will definitely return again.
Be sure to travel!
