It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
The capital of the state of Goa has the official name Panaji, but all the locals call it Panjim. Why this happened is not clear to us, but we did not bother much with it. The first building that impressed us was the library. Apparently the residents of the city read a lot ;-)
If you have read "Count of Monte Cristo", you probably remember Abbot Faria. So this is the most famous native of Panaji. Yes, he was born and raised here. The monument erected to him by the inhabitants of the city depicts the abbot as a young hypnotist. About the elderly abbot - read Alexandre Dumas.

Of the city's architectural monuments, the most famous is the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God.
This temple was built in 1541.

In Panaji, there are several Christian temples and several Hindu ones. Both are interesting. This is what the carriages at Shri Mangesh Temple look like.

But the island of Birds took the most of our time. We got to him by ferry, past real mangroves.

There are several villages on the island. The inhabitants of each village wanted to take us somewhere on boats, but they asked for a lot of money. We disagreed and just walked around Birds Island, photographing local attractions. These are such as "cow flatbreads", which were dried in the sun, so that the housewives would then heat the oven with them.

We did not find any special birds there, but we saw many cows swimming in the bays. Returning from the island to the city, we walked a little more. We were very impressed with the banyan trees - the sacred Indian trees. We like them very much.

We would be glad to receive your comments on this article. If you have been to Panaji or are going to go there - share your impressions in the comments.
