A city where history meets expensive food

It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
Venice is our love, so let's start our story with an atmospheric video. This is how the back streets of this beautiful city look like.
First, let's debunk a few myths about Venice. The first myth is that besides gondolas, there is no other public transport in the city. This is not true, knowledgeable travelers can move around Venice on the winged lion of St. Mark.
Another fiction that is spread in tourist guides: in Venice, in Piazza San Marco, you cannot feed the birds. The guidebooks are just a little under-spoken. Birds should not be fed with only hands. Here's the confirmation.
And here's another discovery we made while walking around Venice: if you carry a frog in your hands, then you are allowed to walk around the city naked ;-)
And where are all the crowds of tourists who are told about in tourist programs? Where you don't go - nobody, you sit down on some square - nobody too :-)

Although, when you go out to Piazza San Marco, you can feel a certain tightness. This square is named in honor of St. Mark, because there is the Cathedral of St. Mark, and in it are the relics of St. Mark. The story with the appearance of these relics is confusing. It is said that two merchants brought them from Alexandria in 828. Some guides say that they were saved from plunder by Muslims, other guides say that they simply stole the relics of the evangelist.
The general impression of Venice is water, water, water all around. It is very unusual and delightful and beckons, beckons.
Of the non-tourist places that we visited in Venice, I remember the cemetery - the island of San Michele. In addition to the Venetians, people who have earned the honor and respect of local residents are buried there. We met the graves of three celebrities there: Brodsky, Diaghilev and Stravinsky.
The title says Venice has expensive food. Yes it is. Even a bowl of soup in an inexpensive Chinese restaurant starts at 5 euros, a slice of pizza from 7 euros. But in search of affordable food, we managed to find two supermarkets where everything was expensive, but promotional products attracted with their price: Prosciutto about 2 euros, wine from 2 euros, strawberries for 1.5 euros a pound. But the main thing in Venice is impressions and on cold winter evenings it is pleasant to remember how you sat on the steps of the Salute church.
