It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
Lithuania, with its developed tourist routes, has long become a home for us. Inexpensive flights to Vilnius and various bus routes through Trakai and Kaunas have repeatedly opened this country to us from different sides. But never before have we reached here, to the very north of Lithuania, where the famous Baltic town with the alluring name Palanga is located ... And now, in the plane's window, we look at the amber beaches of this resort ...
Guidebooks write that the main attraction of Palanga is a 400-meter pier, stretching far into the Baltic Sea. Perhaps this is so, but we remember the benches near this pier, where you can sit down and look at the walking people, and in the evening see off the sun with the slowness inherent in the Balts. This is what it looks like: people are sitting, looking at the pier and the sea.

We did not immediately decide to go to conquer the Palanga pier, because we did not understand what it was for. Well, you will walk several hundred meters along the wooden flooring, you will look from there to the shore, and at the end there is a dead end ... But after a long internal struggle, we decided to "go to the end."

A marker, felt-tip pen, spray paint or a gel pen should be with you when you "conquer" this hydraulic structure. This is because at the end of the path you will be greeted by two plastic panels on which you must leave your note. We did not know this, and our record left by a ballpoint pen (which accidentally ended up in a backpack) is lost against the general background. This is how the right of the two panels looks like (try to find our label :-)

Palanga beaches look attractive, but only "walruses" can afford to swim at the end of August. The owner of our bungalow honestly said that in Palanga the second half of August is already autumn. If there is no rain, then this "autumn" looks very attractive. See for yourself.

Sand dunes are one of the most unique natural phenomena in Palanga. The first acquaintance with them among the majority of adult readers of our blog happened while watching the movie "The Long Road in the Dunes ". I remember that the lullaby from this film was so iconic that the neighbors upstairs sent their daughter to a music school, hoping to listen to this melody at home every day. And indeed, for several months in a row, the famous loss was heard from the ceiling about how "A cricket sings behind the stove ...". In memory of this, I will put my photo in the reportage, where I conquer the dune next to the famous lullaby from the film.

If we talk about the impressions that Palanga gives guests, then it is worth noting leisurely walks, coniferous sea air and paradise conditions for cyclists. The entire town is covered with bike paths, and on the central streets there are many rental bicycles, scooters and all kinds of bicycle carriages. Such a calm and eco-friendly vacation is to our liking !!!

What magical feelings you experience walking among the "ship" pines of Palanga. Peace from unity with nature allows you to relax, calm down and feel yourself in harmony with the world around you. Perhaps it is precisely for the calmness that you should come here ...

It is very convenient to walk in the forests in the vicinity of Palanga. The paths are marked with signs, and on many trees the direction of movement is marked with paint so that the "reveler" does not get lost.

Bridges are laid across the ravines and ditches, and sports grounds with exercise machines are equipped in the meadows. According to our observations, both adults and children enjoy using them.

The August forest near Palanga is filled with mushrooms, berries and various sounds. Either the bird flies by, the squirrel will jump out right under the feet, then it is important that a spider descends from above on a thin cable ...

Moving gradually from the sea, through the dunes and forest, we got to the city and now we will show you its photographs. It is clear that for beautiful photos, you need a good camera. And we have one ;-)

Palanga is a low-rise town, consisting mostly of such small multi-colored mansions as in the photo (bottom left). The central walking street leading to the pier also consists of low buildings, which seem to look out at passers-by from the surrounding parks (lower right). Free Wi-Fi is available everywhere on the main streets !!!

I was very pleased with the sculptural Palanga. Here and naked girls and plot compositions like "Ladies with a Dog". We love these genre scenes very much and take part in them with pleasure, but the dog, judging by the look, did not expect such a turn of events, as did the bystanders who smiled with restraint seeing my courtesy towards the Lady.

Palanga is just a gift for a lover of urban sculpture. There are especially many statues in the center, and their author's intention often defies logical comprehension ... And that's cool !!! :-)

Arriving in Palanga, be sure to visit the Birute park - a wonderful example of park architecture. Here you can visit the amber museum in the Tyszkiewicz palace and see the sculpture "Blessing of Christ", which we would call the "younger brother" of similar statues in
Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon. Follow this link to watch our video from Birute Park .

There are a lot of interesting things in this park, but in order to intrigue, we will show you something. There is a house here, as in Hobbiton and Egle - the queen of snakes (the heroine of a very scary Lithuanian fairy tale ) and the beautiful Baltic nature and many, many other interesting and curiosities.

Against the backdrop of the beautiful landscapes of Birute Park, photographers arrange photo sessions for their customers. We saw these long-legged and long-haired girls in different parts of the park. We felt sincere sympathy for them, because spending the whole day in light dresses in the cold Baltic wind, and even with hair tangled from the constant gusts of wind, is not at all easy. How can you not remember that "Beauty requires ..."

Coming back from Birute, in the center of Palanga, we witnessed an event where the audience paid tribute to the memory of their fighters for independence, near the stella of Jonas Jamaitis .
In Ukraine, we very much appreciate the heroism of our defenders and therefore we have great respect for the heroes of Lithuania, our truly fraternal country.

At the end of the story, we will once again recommend you beautiful Palanga for travel and relaxation. We liked it very much and someday we will definitely visit Palanga again.
We would be glad to receive your comments on this article. If you have been to Palanga - share your impressions in the comments. Reposts and likes will be greatly appreciated.
