We were planning to visit Spain for a very long time, but the necessary "map" still did not fit. And in the competition of promotional air tickets for weekends and holidays, when we make our voyages, Spain constantly lost to other countries. Therefore, special efforts had to be made to find holiday options in this country. And so we fly to the Costa Brava to the small resort town of Calella (in Spanish pronunciation - Caleya).

On arrival, the first step was to try the Mediterranean Sea. For mid-June, the water was fresh enough, and the sand on the beach was hot to such a temperature that barefoot you could only "jump" to the water. However, such dissonance did not scare us away ...
Key attractions near the beach are the flag of Catalonia, and the monument to the local dance Sardana, which is a cultural heritage of this region, although it is danced in Madrid and even in the highlands of Andorra. This dance is performed by men and women holding hands.
We discover the romantic secret of Calella. If you stand facing the sea, then to the right of the city you can see small rocks. And among these rocks there is a very small but very romantic beach. Such an ideal retreat for loving hearts. In fairness, it should be noted that the couple, who bask in the photograph, probably took their place even after dark.
Getting to the romantic beach is easy. Walk along the edge of the beach past the island of inflatable water slides towards the nude beach, after which the romantic beach will be yours. But on the nudist beach, go tightly closing your eyes: we did not see anyone under 50 there, while only the "grandfathers" undressed completely, which did not add any joy to the eyes ;-)
We walked around the romantic beach from above, walking along the road leading to Barcelona, and another beach opened for us, to which we went down from the road and discovered a beautiful arch leading to the lighthouse. Since the lighthouse is also a local landmark, we boldly headed towards it.
Having passed the arch, we immediately saw a beautiful and comfortable bench. She was in the shadow of the road overhead. The shadow gave coolness, and the bench whispered invitingly: "Today you have already climbed a lot in the mountains, you are tired and want to rest. So sit down on me!"
We, of course, collapsed on this bench, and the next photo reflects the endless happiness of people who walked for several hours in the scorching heat, and then found a shade and sat down to rest ;-) By the way, a lot of time passed before we forced ourselves to get up and again climb the mountainside in the rays of the scorching sun. The lighthouse turned out to be a protected object and we could not get into its territory, being content with photographing from afar.
Towards evening we returned to the hotel and sat on the balcony of our room until the march of the folklore festival artists, which took place in Calella, began near our hotel. This march is organized specifically to attract spectators to the evening show, which takes place near the central church of the city. Here are the Ukrainians and Canadians!
When you are on a journey, thousands of kilometers from your home and meet your Ukrainians, you always know what to say to them when you meet :-)
And they always know what to say in response. This is how it looked in Spain!
You shouldn't even predict whether we were at the evening show or not? Of course we were there. More than 20 folklore groups from 13 countries were presented at this festival. And so, evaluate, the girls from which country did the organizers place on the main advertising poster of the festival? There are no options here: of course Ukrainian! As confirmation - a photo of the main stage of the festival.
Ukraine was represented by two teams. We distinguished the name of one of them in the Spanish pronunciation - "Cherevichki". Look at these Ukrainian bands and pay attention to the support group in yellow and blue scarves around everyone's neck.
Our "trick" of the last two or three years: to take Ukrainian flags with us and leave them at the hotel receptions. Now you can find our flags in Mexico and the Azores and Sri Lanka .
But in the photo we are waving the flag we brought at the concert of the "Alegria" festival.
The Ukrainian theme was so popular in Calella during the festival that when the evening show was on, a young man approached us and asked if we could give us a Ukrainian flag so that he would take a memorable selfie. We could not deny him this, and now, look, with what joy he takes pictures of himself with our flag against the background of the festival stage.
What can you say, even stops in Calella are usually marked with the colors of the Ukrainian flag :-)
And of course, a tourist from Ukraine is "always" glad to meet another tourist from Ukraine, as well as treat him to wine with fruit or beer. We remember with touching fondness our fellow countrymen, whom we met in Calella, with whom we spent several very memorable evenings.

What surprised Calella? The number of festivals that are simultaneously held in the city. In addition to the folklore festival, we saw the Calella Film Festival and the Choir Festival. In the photo below is the poster of the film festival and the performance of some choir in blue.
By the way, the winner of the film festival was the film "Under the Rose" which has a rather high rating on IMBD , but we do not know where it can be watched. Our favorite was The Lion , starring Nicole Kidman, who entered the competition but did not receive any prizes. And the film is very cool !!!
What else do we remember in Calella?
1. Plane alley near the beach,
2. The main city church,
3. Stairs leading to the highway to Barcelona (from there you can take pictures of the entire beach).
The richness of the flora of this region of Spain can be felt only while walking slowly among the hills.
But the main impression that travelers take away from here is the sea, which in the Costa Brava
beautiful, exciting and refreshing.
