It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)

In Goa, there is a settlement that seemed very authentic to us. This is Mapusa. Some locals call this town Mapsa. This is a common occurrence in Goa. For example, the capital of Goa - Panaji has a second name Panjim. Getting to Mapusa is very easy - it is the state's hub bus hub. You can talk endlessly about buses in India. For us it was one of the brightest examples of local life and culture. The first thing that catches your eye is the altars of all kinds of gods on the bus torpedo. Always with garlands of fresh flowers. The principles of choosing a deity for a torpedo remained unknown to us, but most often it was Ganesha, a man with an elephant's head. Another feature was the barkers-conductors, who hang on the footboard all the way and shout the name of the city where the bus is going. This tradition arose because of the large number of illiterate Indians, they cannot read the route on the windshield and it is for them that the barker-conductor shouts. When the bus is full of people, this employee acts as a press - pushing more passengers inside. And what else surprised in India - no one concedes places on buses to anyone. It was very strange for us - former Soviet pioneers who had to give way to their elders. :-) Some old man, without any offense, will stand next to a teenager sitting on the bus and this is considered normal for them. After all, the teenager was the first to take this place.

Arriving at the bus station in Mapusa you will immediately enter the market.
The market is big, colorful and the cheapest we've seen in India. Therefore, if you need shopping for cheap goods, then this is in Mapusu. Fruits and vegetables in this market are also really cheaper than in the rest of Goa. The approximate cost of goods on this here: a low quality T-shirt - $ 2, a high quality T-shirt - $ 3. Women's handbag 4-6 dollars. Pineapples $ 0.5-0.6 per kilogram. Bananas are small 4-5 cents apiece. In short, in this market any Ukrainian will feel like a real Indian Raja. Also very popular here are the rows where clothes with prices are dumped in large bales: any thing for 100 rupees (2 dollars) or 50 (1 dollar) rupees or 150 rupees (3 dollars). Whole families meticulously rummaged through a mountain of things looking for something useful for themselves.

Visiting tradesmen were not shy and laid out their goods directly on the asphalt. Even if it was chicken ... You have to be very picky or very hungry in order to buy chicken lying on the hot asphalt in the forty-degree heat. But apparently, this is not a problem for Indians. Commercial refrigerators? - No, you haven't heard ...

In the next photo you can see an advertising banner for "HALLS" lollipops - just like that, multinational companies even got to this remote place. According to our impressions, we can say that here it is interesting for a traveler to just walk, even without buying anything, because the very atmosphere of the market is very colorful.
 Market atmosphere in Mapusa
Many visitors visiting Goa are only in the promoted tourist places. We highly recommend visiting Mapusa, especially on market days. You will see a real live Indian city, with the obligatory monuments to Mahatma Gandhi, look at the colorful market life and once again experience the diversity of our world.
