It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
Getting to Uman from Kiev is as easy as shelling pears. The minibus from the station runs as you accumulate passengers, this is approximately every 25-30 minutes. Then two hours and forty-five minutes drive and you in Uman. Historically, Uman was a very active city - Koliivshchyna, Gaidamaks, Uman (not Volyn) massacre, Potocki, Gonta, Zheleznyak and others are described in sufficient detail in
sources. But nowadays it is a calm, provincial town, famous for its two attractions - the tomb of Rebbe Nachman to which every Jewish new year thousands of Hasidim come together, and the landscape park "Sofiyivka".
We got out of the minibus on the very edge of Uman to take a walk to absorb the atmosphere of this town. The peculiarity of Uman, which is striking, is that the first floors of most houses are given over to all kinds of shops, salons and shops. On the first floor of an ordinary five-story building, sometimes up to a dozen shops are located. Having reached the center, we checked into the "Uman" hotel. We got a room with a central balcony.
Of course, the first step was to get out onto this balcony and contemplate the central square
from high. Such a view, for an amateur.
Crossing the square, you find yourself in the central city park, it is small but creative, filled with various art objects.
Here is the Eiffel Tower and other interesting things.
After walking through the park, we went down the street and passed the extinguished eternal flame, the stalls in the market, which are more than 200 years old, and went to see the area of the grave of Rebbe Nachman. Approaching we saw a pile of containers literally one above the other.
It turns out that the Hasid needs to spend the new year, as close to the grave as possible, and therefore there is such a pile of buildings around. The fashion of the passers-by is colorful - sideways, pants tucked into white socks, incredibly shaped hats - shtreimla.
Signs around in an incomprehensible but well-known language.
Well, the very entrance to the Hasidic shrine looks like this:
We did not go inside, there are many requirements for those entering, so having made a circle around the area, we headed to the Sofiyivka park. We decided to take a shortcut and walked along some narrow streets until we came across Dexter himself ...
Horrified that Dexter was somewhere nearby, we turned around and quickly stomped back along the long but proven road. And here we are at Sofiyivka. Then you can just slides ... Photos are clickable
Summing up the trip, we can say that Uman is recommended for visiting. A detailed inspection of the park takes about 3-4 hours. We have not covered the topic of fishing in Uman. The minibus back to Kiev is gathered near the eternal flame. You go to him from "Sofiyivka" walking straight and without turning anywhere.
