We will be pleased if you like this article.

It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)

When promotional tickets coincide with the holidays, it is a great success. Because usually, if the airline offers a discount, then on very inconvenient days. We were very lucky with Gdansk, tickets at a super price fell out, just for three days off, and here we are at the bus stop near the airport waiting for a bus to the city. The issue price is 3.20 zł.
 Gdansk transport ticket
To get to the Old Town - get off near the train station and walk a little forward along the route of the bus and on the left across the road you will see the streets of old Gdansk. But also take a few minutes to see the station - it is very beautiful and has its own character.

It is important to note that from the station it is very convenient to get to Sopot, Westerplatte and the largest shopping mall at the Wrzeszcz station, which is called the Baltic Gallery . And if you want to "shop" without leaving anywhere, then right across the street from the station there is a shopping complex "Madison" .

We did not use the food market in the Old Town, because we bought food in the supermarkets "Biedronka" (Ladybug). This network is optimal for the price and range, but it is good for large purchases, and if you need to buy water or bread, then everywhere in Gdansk there are minimarkets Toad - "Żabka" . For some reason, both nets are named after the animals ;-)

If you want to know what a kindergarten in a medieval city looks like, then the next photo is for you. There are no verandas in the classic form for us, because every meter of land is very expensive.

Gdansk with its interesting history, which in the 20th century was an independent city-state named Danzig in 2017 was recognized by several ratings as the best destination in Europe for tourists. We listen to such advice and we can say in the affirmative about this city - we really liked it. It is a great pleasure to wander through the old streets and walk along the "Island of Warehouses", especially in sunny weather.

We did not pass by our flag, which fluttered at the Academy of Vocational School of Gdansk and the poster board pleased with the tour of "Ansable Virsky"

Another mention of Ukraine is the monument to King Jan the Third. Once made in Austria by order of Lvov, it was supposed to become another "Bogdan Khmelnytsky" in Soviet times, but was eventually donated to Poland in 1950. It stood somewhere on the outskirts of Warsaw Park until, unexpectedly in 1965, it was donated to Gdansk. So he stands in this city with an inscription that the customer of the monument is the city of Lviv ...

Since the story cannot contain all the impressions, we will supplement them with a series of photos that are quite clickable:

The central part of the old city is built up with medieval houses in the style of Amsterdam or Stockholm: multi-storey, narrow and different from their neighbors, both in color and in ornament. The sailboat, which was moored near the embankment, suddenly began to move and turned out to be a real ship, and not a tourist imitation. Well, the Moltava river, as it turned out, belongs not only to large ships, but also to lovers of kayaks and canoes.

A few more photos with impressions:
1. Old warehouses,
2. Houses with old murals ;-)
3. "Golden Gate", almost like in Kiev,
4. The main walking street near the Town Hall

We liked the sculpture culture of Gdansk very much. There are fish and lions in the bushes and dragons and group compositions. Here and there, unusual but beautiful works of art will appear in front of you. Sometimes there are so many of them that not all can be captured.

But we wouldn't be travel bloggers if we didn't talk about local food. On the embankment, near the main gate, there is a restaurant "Zhurav", where I tasted the delicious "Zurek" - the national Polish soup. I have tried it several times, but here it was the best (or maybe hungry that day more than usual ;-) For the second there was game with potatoes and pickled cucumbers - also very tasty, but the zurek was remembered very, very much.

When you travel, it is important to "take a selfie" somewhere on an ordinary street, to tell what surprised the station - in Gdansk, he surprised with a defibrillator, which is located in the center of the waiting room, apparently starting a heart at the station is a common thing for Poles ;-) and a photo of the airport should be in the report to confirm that we flew there by plane ;-)

But the most touching sculpture seemed to us a polar bear listening to a violinist in one of the shopping centers in Gdansk. Especially if you know that the polar bear is perhaps the most dangerous predator for humans, meeting with which this violinist does not bode well ;-)

What can you not write about in a report about Gdansk? Of course, that this is a city that in Poland, and perhaps throughout Europe, is a symbol of Freedom. It was here, in the shipyards of the city, that the Solidarity trade union movement was born, which in 1989 was able to organize a peaceful revolution and dismantled the communist regime in Poland. The founder and leader of this movement was Lech Walesa , a Nobel laureate in 1990 who became president of Poland. Any tourist bus from Gdansk will definitely take you to the shipyard, where Solidarity was born, and the guide will tell you about the complex vicissitudes of the struggle of Gdansk shipbuilders for rights and freedoms. Now the shipyard looks like this:

Whom what, but me - let the lion saddle. Last time I had to do it in Venice , but Gdansk lions give in to horse riding just as well. See for yourself ;-)
