It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
Walk on Christmas Eve.
It so happened that we did not go to Paris specifically, but since we bought tickets to Mexico at a promotional price, such tickets imply "some difficulties" for passengers. Our "difficulty" turned out to be a ten-hour transfer in Paris. We have previously compiled a route of "our interests" in Google for 6 hours of walking at an average speed. There was everything we wanted to see: from Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris to croissants in the Café Two Mills from the movie Amelie in Montmartre. But UIA, to which Air France entrusted the first "shoulder" of our difficult route, for some reason did not have access to booking luggage to the final destination of the trip, which means that we now have to go out in Paris, wait for our luggage, then look for a camera storage, hand over - then pick it up from the cell in the evening, carry it to the registration, in short, if you have a ticket with several transfers from Kiev, and the first segment of the trip is performed by "UIA" - this is a serious reason to think carefully. And now, having stood in a queue at passport control, we are sadly waiting for our luggage to go in search of a left-luggage office, we will find it on the top floor of the terminal, by the time we check it in, we will get minus 2 hours of walking around Paris in the afternoon and another minus 2 hours of walking through Paris in the evening since Christmas and the luggage room closes earlier. "UIA" - warm greetings to you :-( Having solved the problems with the luggage, we hurry to get out on the roof of the terminal of Charles de Gaulle airport to finally see a little of France. Here is our first Parisian view :-)
Getting from this airport to the center of Paris is very easy, but not very cheap. The train that goes to the center costs 10 euros per person one way. It is easy to calculate that for the desire to see Paris and fly away, we had to "pay off" 40 euros. How beautiful is lovely Budapest in comparison with Paris, where for 13.5 euros you can ride unlimited transport for 3 days. Well, finally, we have overcome all the difficulties and get the first impression of Paris: the famous Parisian mansards ...
Walking along the streets of the center, we accidentally came out onto Sevastopol Boulevard ...
Then we wandered around the Pompidou Center, the center of contemporary art, which in the seventies shocked Parisians with its communications brought out, and now it is one of the visiting cards of Paris.
When we got to the square on the banks of the Seine, we remembered with pleasure that today was Christmas evening and contemplated the festive Parisian life.
Crossing the Seine bridge, we found ourselves on an island, next to Notre Dame Cathedral. But the cathedral itself was cordoned off by the police very tightly and we could not enter there. Perhaps some important event took place there, or maybe the fight against terrorism was carried out, it is not clear.
Then there was the Seine, along which we walked, simultaneously examining the surrounding beauty.
This is how we saw Paris. The photos below are clickable.
Drinking water will be one of the main impressions of Paris. We've heard before that Parisians are proud of their water and now we can confirm this. Faucets with tasty and clean water were available in all quarters of the city that we visited. And even in the airport terminal there was a water column on which it was written that clear water is the pride of Paris.
We managed to see the Louvre and walk along the Alexander III bridge.
We sang the chorus of Joe Dassin's song about the Champs Elysees cheerfully :
Aux Champs-Élysées
Aux Champs-Élysées
Au soleil, sous la pluie
À midi ou à minuit
Il ya tout ce que vous voulez
Aux Champs-Élysée
And we got to HER.
The Eiffel Tower still has the right to be called the main attraction of Paris, any tourist is attracted to it like a magnet. The only not very pleasant memory is that a lot of Afro-Frenchmen near the entrance are doing the same things that we had in the mid-nineties - they twist thimbles, play a lottery, where there are two winners and then the second has to be traded with a sum of money, and the money from the "dummy" winner never end. By the time we came to the tower, it began to get dark, and we still had time to return to the storage room before it closed. We hurried to the metro, realizing that Montmartre, Amelie, Moulin Rouge and many other beautiful French words will remain just words for us, and we will watch them on some other French trip.
