It costs you nothing, but a good deed is done :-)
"How the prophetic Oleg is now being assembled
To take revenge on unreasonable khozars ... "A.S. Pushkin
We have heard this quote many times in our lives, but never really thought about the fact that the places where the legendary events from this work took place are very close, literally in the center of Kiev. And so, being on one of the excursions, passing by the Shchekavitsa mountain, named after Schek, one of the founders of Kiev, we again heard Pushkin's words from the guide. And the thought arose in our mind: "Shouldn't we allocate a day to explore this mountain, because the grave of Prophetic Oleg is located on it?" Yes, the very same one ... One sunny weekend, we arrived at the Kontraktova Ploshcha metro station to meet with History ... The first stage is climbing the mountain. The street that leads up can hardly be called "pleasing to the eye".
But the views that sometimes opened from this street were pretty.
It will not be easy for a dubious citizen to get to the top of the mountain, because even we doubted whether it was worth going further when we found ourselves in the middle of some kind of garage cooperative. But perseverance and curiosity made us look between the garages and in the end, we found a path that led to the top. Picnics were held practically in every meadow and in every hollow. And even the main sign of the mountain in the form of a white concrete pedestal was occupied by lovers of eating outdoors.
Although we brought a thermos of sandwiches with us, we were in no hurry to start our meal. Our goal is primarily research - the search for the grave of Prophetic Oleg, and only then the "feeding" one ;-) Scientists of "one northern country" argue that Prophetic Oleg is buried on the Ladoga River, but we understand, "where is Kiev, and where is Ladoga ", therefore we are sure that this place is located here, on" Schekavitsa ". We have studied the entire mountain in detail and with our research we confirm the opinion of Ukrainian scientists that it is impossible to establish the exact place of the "Oleg's grave" on the "Schekavitsa" mountain ;-) Therefore, let's start admiring the surrounding views. This is what Kiev looks like on one side of Schekavitsa:
And this is how it looks if you look the other way.
After taking in the beautiful views of the capital, we joined the community of "wild food destroyers" and celebrated the visit to the historic site with our "selfies".
On the way back we met:
a) radio tower, which stands on "Schekavitsa",
b) a very strange, but attentive explorer of the surrounding world ;-)
And our short journey ended with a drive home by minibus :-)
